IFA 2013: Alcatel Intros One Touch Idol ALPHA with 4.7-Inch Edge-to-Edge Display

One of the first companies to launch their new products at IFA 2013 trade fair, Alcatel has announced the upcoming availability of yet another Android smartphone, the One Touch Idol ALPHA.

At first glance, the One Touch Idol ALPHA doesn’t stand out and may give you the impression of an average mid-range handset.

However, Alcatel claims that the phone features translucent edges that illuminate in various modes such as charging, video, notifications, and more.

Aside from this nifty feature, Alcatel One Touch Idol ALPHA is said to have a unique and sleek design with nice curves, a metal case and aluminum metal frame.

The One Touch Idol ALPHA is only 7.5mm thin and has a “distinctive finish” that doesn’t seem obvious from the press pictures.
When it comes to hardware, the upcoming smartphone from Alcatel makes for a solid Android device. It packs a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It also packs 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Alcatel has also announced that its mid-range Android smartphone will sport a 4.7-inch edge-to-edge HD (720p) capacitive touchscreen display that “delivers the extraordinary floating lens idea and it is one of the kind.” Dragontrail Glass and oleophobic coating is included as well for extra protection against scratches.

The phone only supports microSIMs and features EAP SIM capabilities with GSM quad-band and UMTS dual-band. It offers blazing fast speeds of up to 42Mbps (download) and 11Mbps (upload).

Last but not least, Alcatel One Touch Idol ALPHA boasts an impressive 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.
